New Checkon violence accused remanded

Duty Magistrate of Imphal East on Tuesday remanded ex MLA of Henglep Constituency TT Haokip, his son and two other persons to judicial custody till June 6 for their alleged involvement in the conflict which took place at the Tribal Market of New Checkon yesterday.
Accused ex-MLA TT Haokip (71), s/o (L) Thongzachin Haokip, his son Lengjakhup Haokip (44), Johnlalkhopao Gangte (19), s/o Mary Gangte and Vicky Mongoulam Singson (35), s/o Thannga Singon, all residents of New Lambulane were produced before the Court of the Duty Magistrate Imphal East by a team of Porompat police with a prayer to send four of them to judicial custody.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO sent the four persons to judicial custody till June 6.Three persons including the ex MLA were arrested from New Lambulane along with three single barrel guns (licensed) by Imphal East district police yesterday afternoon while Lengjakhup Haokip was arrested from the same locality during the follow up action of the case with two small arms and a licensed single barrel gun, said sources.
