Rape charge : 2 including commando man held

In connection with the alleged rape of a teenage girl, two persons including a commando personnel have been apprehended by police.
The rape case reportedly took place at a fast food centre at Ghari under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district on October 20 .
Quoting the victim, family members said that the victim went to her TG Higher Secondary School in an autorickshaw where she is reading in class XII .
On the way, Yumnam William (28) s/o late Deben of Khagempalli was seen waiting for her in a Maruti car.
It is said that William is a commando driver in Imphal West District Police.
He and the girl became acquainted only about a month back.
William asked the girl to attend a birthday party and they went together in the car.
On the way, William picked up a friend who hails from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and the three of them headed towards Ghari.
They went inside a Fast Food centre at Ghari but no one was found there.
On being enquired by the girl, William told her that other people would be coming soon.
In the meantime, the girl was offered omelette and soft drinks.
Seconds after drinking the soft drink, the girl lost consciousness.
It was only when she regained consciousness that she came to know that she had been raped.
The accused also threatened the girl saying that video clippings of criminal act would be uploaded in internet if she discloses the incident to anybody.
Later in the day, the girl was dropped near her house and she reached home with the help of a local man.
The whole incident came to light yesterday when the victim's mother questioned the girl.
At that time, the girl was already undergoing treatment at JNIMS.
She underwent medical examination at RIMS today.
Following a complaint filed by the victim's mother, William and Tarun were pulled up yesterday itself.
The two accused are currently in police custody.
