Imphal, August 22 2020:
Appreciating CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam for hearing their plea for opening oil pumps on a roster basis, retail outlets have sought his attention to expedite opening of half the pumps on alternate days.
It may be noted that several retail outlets had recently denounced selective opening of only a few oil pumps in the State and appealed the CAF&PD to enforce a roster system.
According to them, at present only 9 IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) ROs and 2 NRL (Numaligarh Refinery Limited) ROs are allowed to open during the lockdown.
Speaking to The Sangai Express today, the retail outlets said the State has a total of about 101 oil pumps and about 84 of them are operational.
To allow all the pumps to sell petrol and diesel and cut their losses during the lockdown, the 84 pumps may be divided into two groups of 42 and allow each group to open on alternate days, they said adding this would be a fair system for all the pumps.
Allowing one group to open for days will not serve the purpose and it will be unfair to all, they said, insisting that the pumps should be made to open on alternate days.
A representation regarding this has also been submitted to the CAF&PD Minister and IOCL, they said.
