Imphal, February 22 2017: Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Imphal West-1 has remanded a man who was arrested by Cyber Cell Imphal West for uploading nude pictures of a girl on social networking site to judicial custody till March 8 .

The man has been identified as Shamurailatpam Jimjakson Sharma (30) s/o Krishnakumar of Singjamei Chingamakha.

Jimjakson who was in the custody of Singjamei police station for six days was produced before JMIC Imphal West-1 Alek Muivah under FIR number 67 (2) 2017 Singjamei police station under Section 67/67-A-IT Act, 2000, praying for judicial custody remand for the alleged accused.

The application mentioned that the alleged accused admitted to have uploaded nude images of a girl on social networking site Instagram.

Few more prosecution witnesses in the case are yet to be examined .

Two seized mobile phones are to be sent to CFSL for examination.

There is a probability of establishing a prima facie evidence against the alleged accused under Section 67/67-A-IT Act, 2000 so he is highly required to be remanded to judicial custody, it stated.

The application also stated that if the alleged accused is released on bail he might hamper and tamper the evidence of the case.

Perusing the case diary and material on record, the JMIC remanded the man in judicial custody of Sajiwa Central Jail till March 8.Mention may be made that Jimjakson was arrested by Cyber Cell Imphal West on February 16 following a complaint filed by the victim's father.
