Imphal, August 21 2020:
CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam today announced that fuel retail outlets would open on rotational basis.
He made this announcement at a felicitation function of Yumnam Kananbala who secured second position (Commerce stream) in the Higher Secondary Examination 2020 held at Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong where members of other political parties who have joined LJP were also accorded a warm reception.
He noted that there have been media reports on allowing only a few ROs to ply their trade during the lockdown while majority of the ROs are kept shut in a discriminatory manner.
In the meantime, the All Manipur IOCL Retail Outlets and Dealers Association has been complaining that selective opening of only a few ROs has been attracting huge crowds at these particular ROs, Shyam said.
"After taking into account all these matters, I talked with the Chief Minister yesterday who is currently at Delhi and we came to the conclusion that all ROs should be given permission to ply their trade on rotational basis", said the CAF&PD Minister.
However, some ROs against which the Government deposited money would be reserved and they would be kept out of the rotational system, he said.
He then presented a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 to Kananbala Yumnam of Langthabal Mantrikhong Makha Leikai who completed her XII standard from Shri Digambar Jain Mandir Higher Secondary School.
One Nimgombam Bomcha, a businessman from Bashikhong also presented cash incentive of the same amount to the second position holder.
Two former Congress workers who have joined LJP were also accorded a warm reception at the same function.
It is rather unfortunate that some elected representatives has been creating political unrest in the State amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he decried.
Shyam said he is committed to see that there is a BJP-led stable Government in the State.
LJP Langthabal unit president L Birenyaima and other key office bearers were also present at the gathering.
