Imphal, February 21 2024:
The Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (MPMCC) has urged the State Government to take strict action against the Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel involved in excessive use of force against womenfolk during yesterday's demonstration at Cheirap Court Complex, Uripok.
The protest was carried out demanding the release of the six persons arrested for their alleged involvement in the arms and ammunition looting incident at 5th IRB, Chingarel on February 13 .
A press release issued by Mutum Sarma, president, MPMCC has strongly condemned the high-handedness of RAF personnel on the protesting womenfolk.
By using excessive force on the protestors and firing tear gas shells at them inside a Court complex, RAF personnel have not only disrespected the Manipur public but also the judiciary, MPMCC asserted.
It further questioned who authorized the RAF to enter the Court complex and carry out such violent acts.
