Imphal, September 20 2017:
While welcoming Nagaland Governor PB Acharya's statement that a solution can be worked out to the political dialogue going on between the Government of India and NSCN-IM before the Nagaland State Assembly election, Shiv Sena Manipur has appealed to the Government of India not to take any Naga-centric decision which would hurt sentiments of other communities .
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi said that the Government of India should never accede to the Naga-centric demand of unifying Naga inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh to form a greater Nagaland .
If the BJP-led NDA Government takes any decision in the sole interest of a particular community, Shiv Sena may withdraw from the BJP-led alliance in the State even though the party still remains within the alliance at the Centre .
Claiming that Shiv Sena would always fight for the collective interest of Manipur, Tombi asserted that the interest of the State should always precede the interest of political parties .
If there is no Manipur, establishment of political parties and contesting elections would not serve any purpose, he said .
Shiv Sena will always cooperate when the coalition Governments at the Centre and the State take up any initiative to promote communal harmony and expedite development .
He urged the State's coalition Government to frame a common minimum programme .
He also condemned the atrocities unleashed by Myanmar military force upon Rohingya Muslims.
Yet, he urged the authorities concerned to take up stringent security measures so as to prevent of exodus of Rohingyas to Manipur from neighbouring Myanmar.
