Imphal, February 20 2016 :
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has strongly condemned the speeches of Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Mizo-ram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla given at Lui-Ngai-Ni celebration at Ukhrul.
Speaking to reporters today, UCM president Elang- bam Johnson said that it is unbecoming on the part of the Chief Minister to give speech which may sow seeds of discord in Manipur.
It is highly condemnable to give public speech on Naga integration on the soil of Manipur, he said.
The Chief Minister of Manipur and authority concerned had never interfered in others' affairs like Nagaland does with the internal affairs of Manipur, he said.
Johnson said that the Chief Minister of Nagaland and his people would not appreciate Manipur if the State extends support to the demand for eastern Nagaland.
Saying that TR Zeliang must never give such provocative speeches in future, Johnson said that all concerned groups and individuals must also suggest him not to do so in the coming days.
He said that Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has created confusion in the minds of people of different communities, who have been residing together, by terming the three ILP Bills as anti-tribal Bills.
It is known to everybody that Mizoram Government has been putting in constant efforts to repatriate Bru refugees.
However, Manipur has not made any comment on the issue although large number of Bru refugees driven out from Mizoram are taking shelter in Assam, he said.
Lal Thanhawla must never speak against the three Bills which intend to protect the indigenous people including those who are becoming minority in Churachandpur district.
Flaying the Mizoram Chief Minister, Johnson said that Lal Thanhawla's speech indicates lack of leadership quality.
The Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Mizoram must have visited the State as polite guests, he said and added that they however tried to disintegrate the State.
Johnson further said that the organisers of Lui-Ngai-Ni must not have neglected the Chief Minister of Manipur and invited the Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Mizo- ram.
Necessary steps must be taken up by the elected leaders and CSOs of the area to avoid such blunders in future, he observed.
He also condemned two Nagaland based organisations for terming the mass rally for common future organised by three organisations on February 6 as anti-tribal.
Saying that the rally had told to the world that people of different communities are residing harmoniously in the State, Johnson asked all concerned not to issue press statements against the rally.
