Imphal, November 19 2011:
In case Trinamool Congress succeeds in forming a coalition Government in Manipur, the Government would develop Manipur to the level of another Hong Kong in South Asia, stated TC General Secretary Mukul Roy.
He was speaking at a political convention organised by the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress at Yumnam Leikai today.
Mukul Roy asserted that the Congress party despite being in power for the last 10 years has been unable to bring about good governance in the State.
The 111 days old economic blockade is a clear testimony of the absence of rule of law in the State.
No development programmes could be executed properly in Manipur and the Government is unable to provide healthcare facility to a large majority of the population.
There is no growth in the economy of Manipur, he asserted.
Mukul Roy who is also the Union Shipping and Transport Minister stated that Trinamool Congress would fight the forthcoming Assembly elections on the plank of infrastructure development.
TC would strive to provide healthcare facilities to all sections of the society and open education infrastructure for every child of the State.
Exuding confidence that Trinamool Congress would achieve remarkable success in the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, Mukul Roy recalled the victory of their candidate over the rival Congress rival in the by-election to Konthoujam AC although Congress party has been in power for the last 10 years.
The by-election results showed that people have no more faith in Congress party.
He also pledged that Manipur would be developed to the status of second Hong Kong in South Asia provided TC comes to power in the State.
TC North East in-charge MP KD Singh remarked that the people of Manipur are now facing huge challenge and that the forthcoming elections would determine the future of Manipur.
KD Singh also exuded confidence that TC would achieve resounding victory in the elections and it would lead a coalition Government in Manipur.
Only then, there can be good governance and economic growth in the State.
TC Manipur State unit president Kim Gangte stated that the political convention also provided an opportunity to the central leaders to assess the situation in Manipur so that the same can be put up for discussion in Parliament.
Later addressing a press conference at Hotel Imphal, Lok Sabha MP KD Singh stated that TC would field its candidates in all the Assembly Constituencies of Manipur.
However, it has not been decided who would be given the party tickets.
Party tickets would be given to dynamic, social-minded capable candidates.
To a query raised by reporters, Mukul Roy said that the issue of the 111 days old economic blockade blockade and the proposed Supra State body would be raised in the winter session of the Parliament.
The party would always stand for the territorial integrity of Manipur and it would put in all efforts to restore harmonious relationship among different ethnic groups of the State.
