Imphal, December 18 2024:
The proscribed PREPAK has clarified that the party and its armed wing Red Army have no connection whatsoever with Laishram Prem (18) who was gunned down by security personnel at Salungpham on December 14 and the six other persons who were arrested on the same day.
The outfit, in a statement signed by its publicity officer Mangai Khuman, said-that the statement given by DIG Range-II Jogeshchandra Haobijam pertaining to the Salungpham incident was a blatant lie.
The outfit also said that they take Late L Prem alias Loktak of Thoubal Khunou and the six other persons who were arrested by police following the firing incident at Salungpham namely Thokchom Momocha alias Sunny (41), Sarangthem Anand Singh alias Malem (36), Ningthoujam Kama alias Pishak Singh (27), Ningthoujam Manoranj an Singh alias Khagemba (21), Thongam Phalguni alias Urikpa alias Khoithoi (27), and Moirangthem Johnson alias Thouna (21) as village volunteers who, like many others, were only performing their duty to defend Meetei villages from the onslaught of Kuki narco terrorists.
Claiming that Manipur police commandos had killed several youths by designating them as insurgents in fake encounters just to win gallantry award in the past, PREPAK alleged that such misdeeds of police commandos have resurfaced again in Manipur since the last one-two months.
The outfit also recounted the killing of a student Khundrakpam Athouba (21), s/o Kh Tombi allegedly by Senior SP (Combat) Nector Sanjenbam on November 17, 2024 at around 7 pm in Jiribam.
Saying that the police must exercise its authority in hill districts and take up all possible efforts to resettle the families whose houses have been torched and flattened by Kuki narcoterrorists if they are bold enough, PREPAK asked the police commandos to stop killing blood brothers when Manipur is literally burning.
