CM assures compensation

Imphal, September 18 2011:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has reportedly given assurance to give compensation for the truckers killed and wounded in the course of the economic blockades and general strikes for and against the Sadar Hills district demand.
Speaking to media persons today, Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh, president of the All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union said that they called on the Chief Minister this afternoon.
The meeting was also attended by Transport and Works Minister K Ranjit and PDA Chairman Kh Loken.
Ibobi assured representatives of the transport organisations that their charter of demands highlighted in a memorandum submitted earlier would be fulfilled.
The of demands included deployment of security forces in adequate strength on highways as well as provision of recovery van and ambulance.
