Community at Kangpokpi gears up to surmount COVID-19

Many denizens of Kangpokpi DHQs have realized the importance of community participation in the fight against COVID-19 and embarked on community services, lending all possible help to frontline workers and stranded returnees in various ways.
The apex body of the Christian community at Kangpokpi district, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF) through contribution of all Churches within the town, donated Rs 1 lakh to Kangpokpi Town Committee for the Community Quarantine Centres of the district.
KTCF handed over the amount at KTC office to KTC Vice Chairman and in-charge Chairman, Angam Leivon yesterday.
Appreciably, the KTC Chairman had voluntarily agreed to be under surveillance at one of the Quarantine Centre after his return from Arunachal Pradesh.
A Community Quarantine Centre set up under the KTC with a capacity of 25 people was inaugurated by Rev.Thangboi David, Vice Chairman KTCF and already occupied to maximum yesterday.
Now, KTC has decided to open another Community Quarantine Centre at Kangpokpi Govt High School and more if required.
Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union under the supervision of Kangpokpi Town Committee have been the district administration, police and health workers since the initial stage in the fight against the COVID-19.The two organisations are now engaged in serving free food to the returnees under the initiative of COVID-19 Emergency Food Kiosk sponsored by ADC Sadar Hills.
Apart from the past good samaritan act from various likeminded public in the district, Deepak Thapa and his wife Anita Thapa today distributed package water and snacks to truck drivers ferrying essential commodities for the people of the State.
They also distributed it to hospitals, police and officials on duty at Brig M Thomas Ground.
Deepak, father of three children and a former truck driver with his wife decided to help the drivers today.
Another citizen Ch James Singh, an auto driver and his friends also helped in the distribution.
Mamang Kipgen, owner of A3 Restaurant provided Momo free of cost at the Community Quarantine Centres for inmates.
Meanwhile, early this morning a police team led by Inspector Khogen, Officer-in-charge of Kangpokpi Police Station conducted a cleanliness drive by picking and cleaning litters and trash at District Screening Centre/Centralized Arrival Point at Brig M Thomas Ground after disinfection.
The Deputy Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi in consultation with the town administration and in lieu of the arrival of stranded people to the District Screening Centre, closed all shops within the area from yesterday till May 21 to ensure the safety of the people.
The order also allowed vehicles only with permit from the DM/DC Kpi.
The District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidas, IAS had also issued protocol of Community Quarantine Centre yesterday to be followed strictly in all the CQC in the district.
Also, volunteers should disinfect the quarantine centres regularly.
If any inmates have directly reported to community quarantine centre without reporting to District Screening Centre at Thomas ground, they are to be reported immediately to District Control Room (9402882745/9612523529).Further, no family members or volunteers should go inside the quarantine centre for serving foods and food are to be supplied only in disposable/banana leaves/plastics so that it is not passed on again to their families.
No clothes or luggage or any items should be brought out from the Quarantine Centres by family members.
