Imphal, July 16 2024:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has raised three questions pertaining to the issues and challenges in the State education system.
DESAM, in a statement, asked why the Government is still not setting up any teacher training institution for the foundational stage (pre-primary) under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in Manipur.
The student body, in its second question, asked what prevents the Government from rationalising college and higher education teachers and staff to make up for the shortage of teachers and infrastructure to some extent.
In the third question, DESAM asked on whom the responsibility must be fixed for not starting a 4 year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in the State.
Forget quality education, the education system in Manipur is collapsing, DESAM said as it accused the Education Minister, Education Commissioner and Directors of Higher Education, SCERT and School Education of being inattentive to the problems.
