Imphal, February 16 2022: The Naga People's Front which will contest 12th Assembly election in 10 Naga dominated seats officially launched its election campaign in the presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other party leaders, today.

The inauguration ceremony held at Senapati was also attended by NPF central committee working president Dr Huskha Yepthomi, secretary general Achumbemo Kikon, United Democratic Alliance Nagaland chairman TR Zeliang and NPF Manipur State unit president Awangbow Newmai among others.

At the function, Neiphiu Rio said that the ensuing election is very crucial to find a solution to the common issues of Nagas.

Saying that the law and order was terrible in Naga dominated areas during the tenure of Okram Ibobi, Rio contended that the situation has started improving gradually after NPF with 4 MLAs became a part of the Government here.

Further stating that the law and order in Manipur as a whole has improved considerably after the coming of the BJP led Government headed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Rio urged the people to cooperate in maintaining peace.

Election is the biggest platform where people exercise their democratic rights, the Nagaland Chief Minister said and urged all the Nagas to remain united and choose their right leaders.

The Government of India has not only acknowledged the uniqueness of Naga history but also identified the Naga issue as a political one, he maintained and continued that the Naga struggle is heading in the right direction.

The Government of India is also giving some sort of protection to Nagaland under Article 371 A, Rio maintained and added that more benefit will be given if all the Nagas unite.

"Recognising our history and issues is a big thing," the Nagaland Chief Minister stated and urged all the electors concerned to support NPF in the election to solve the common Naga issues.

TR Zeliang also spoke at the event.

He said that the NPF was seen as a threat when the party first entered the political landscape of Manipur.

"But now the people have realised that NPF is a friendly political party," he said and continued that NPF too will contest the election at its best level.

"Let them utter whatever they want, NPF will always stick to the 'Solution through dialogue" stand, Zeliang said without taking any names.

Saying that Congress and BJP are the kind of parties which have to take advice from their high command for every undertaking, he urged the people to vote for NPF which is based amongst the people here in the region.
