Scrutiny okays all but one

Scrutiny of nomination papers for the 38 Assembly segments which would go to polls in the first phase on March 4 was done today at the offices of respective Returning Officers.
One candidate of All India Trinamool Congress who filed his nomination paper in Churachandpur AC was rejected after scrutiny, informed an official source.
The rejected candidate is one L Thangton and his nomination papers were rejected because of certain errors detected in the documents he submitted.
Notably, 171 candidates filed nomination papers for the first phase and nomination papers of 170 have been okayed after scrutiny.
Among the Assembly segments which would be going to polls in the first phase, Saikul AC has maximum number of 11 candidates.
Keirao AC has the second largest number of candidates which is 10.With only two candidates each, Sekmai AC, Mayang Imphal AC and Nambol AC would see straight fights.
Notably, February 18 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
