The NSCN(IM) has charged the Assam Rifles which has been given the charge of tackling revolutionary groups in the North East of flexing muscles by raiding houses, arresting and torturing innocent civilians in the absence of regular army caused by the deployment of troops at Indo-Pak border and appealed to the CFMG chairman to implement the cease-fire ground rules.
In a release the outfit said IRB tortured and harassed on January 7 Chayang Naga village following a bomb blast at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai.
It named seven victims.
On January 13 Assam Rifles ransacked a rented house of Wungmarong, joint secretary GPRN in Dimapur, it said adding iron-gate, doors and windows household properties were destroyed.
On the night of January 14 the Assam Rifles ransacked the rented house of Sgt Major Shaolin, Thungbo Brigade, Naga army at Midland colony, Wokha town.
They beat up Naga army personnel, landlady Chumbemo Lotha (37) and her daughter Miss Helen (20), the release charged.
Stating that despite assurances from Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee ground reality reveals a different story it said such activities would disturb in building congenial atmosphere.
The role of the CFMG chairman remains in total bizarre, it said.
It said the chairman should give full attention to check every "unwanted elements' particularly the violation of cease-fire ground rules to avoid hurdles and misunderstanding in the peace process.
