DG extension urged

A joint memorandum signed by former MHRC member RK Rajendra, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee president Prof D Y Mohendra, People's Action for National Democratic Movement and former UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, Meitei Council Moreh advisor N Pulindro and Trans Asian Tourist and Transporter Guild president Khumanthem Tejmani seeking extension of service period for DGP MK Das has been submitted to the Prime Minister.
Copies of the same memorandum have also been submitted to Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Pointing out that DGP MK Das would retire on superannuation on November 30, 2013 as per standing orders of the Government, the memorandum the DGP has succeeded in improving the whole police organisation substantially to the extent of earning public appreciation during over a little more than two months since he took over as DGP.
Highlighting some of the achievements of the DGP, the memorandum informed that Manipur Government signed MoU/SoO with three UG groups on September 10 this year.

MK Das has also introduced a new system of taking prompt action against rogue cops.
The DGP's grand plan for a dedicated force for protection of National Highways is what the people of Manipur have been praying for.
He also suggested for establishment of an independent, separate police recruitment board.
MK Das has been associated with and studying the situation (of Manipur) critically and thus he could easily bring out the best plan to translate into action.
What he is showing in two months was not done by any of his predecessors during their long tenures, it claimed.
People want MK Das to hold the post of DGP at least for another one year.
A loveable, intelligent, uncorrupt and efficient leader/DGP like MK Das at this juncture is what Manipur requires, read the memorandum.
