11 fire fighting vehicles flagged off

Chief Minister N Biren Singh flagged off 11 new fire fighting vehicles and other equipment of the Manipur Fire Service Department at the main gate of Khuman Lampak today.
Reportedly, the fire fighting vehicles are for Imphal, Thoubal, Moreh, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Churachandpur.
Speaking as the chief guest of the launching cum demonstration ceremony, N Biren Singh laid emphasis on widening of bylanes and local roads so that emergency vehicles can pass through the roads in any event of emergency and to maintain ponds in every locality.
Emphasizing on the importance of widening bylanes and local roads, the Chief Minister questioned how these big vehicles will pass through narrow bylanes at Imphal and District Headquarters in the event of an inferno or other emergencies.
"The Government cannot act alone, we need involved citizens," the Chief Minister said urging the people to come out voluntarily and work together to widen the local bylanes.
The Chief Minister also spoke about water shortage due to deforestation, drying up of rivers and disappearance of water bodies like ponds and lakes in the State.
Appealing to the people to come out and actively participate in working for the welfare of the society, N Biren Singh said "we must reflect on our deeds first before criticising others" .
The Chief Minister further stated that the 11 new vehicles of Manipur Fire Services are equipped with modern technology, while encouraging the firefighters to continue their service with dedication.
Director of Manipur Fire Services Themthing Ngashangva thanked the Chief Minister for modernizing and enhancing the capability of the Manipur Fire Services.
He also said that the State now has a Water Bouser with 12,000 KL capacity.
Foam Co2 and Crash Tender are other vehicles which were launched today.
The Director also said that altogether 80 proximity fire suits among other things have been introduced today.
The launching cum demonstration ceremony was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Ministers L Susindro Singh, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, H Dingo Singh, MLAs K Robindro Singh, L Rameshwor Meetei, DGP P Doungel and ADGP Clay Khongsai among others.
