Sit-in staged at Wangjing against police action

Imphal, November 12 2015:
Locals of Wangjing Lamding on Thursday staged a sit-in protest at Wangjing bazaar demanding the release of Khundrakpam Suchil, Ngangom Gambhir and his son James, who were arrested by a team of Thoubal Police on November 6 last.
A protester said that some amount of money of Khumanthem Noren, who owns a shop at Wangjing bazaar was stolen on November 4 last.
In connection with the incident, Thoubal Police had arrested Khundrakpam Suchil, Ngangom Gambhir and his son James.
A team of Thoubal Police and Forensic Science visited the house of Noren and had collected the finger prints from the house wall and others.
But without revealing the reports of the finger prints, police arrested the three stating that they will be taken for simple interrogation.
The protesters demanded immediate release of the three persons, who they feel were innocent.
They have decided to impose a Thoubal District bandh if the authorities fail to release the persons by November 15 .
It may be mentioned that the three persons were picked up by the Thoubal Police in connection with the theft case on November 6 last at the police station.
But they were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal on November 7 and sent to eight days remand in police custody.
They will be produced in court on November 14 .
