Imphal, September 12 2024: The Raj Bhavan has reacted to the viral post of Licypriya Kangujam which claims that Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya is planning to run away from Manipur.

A press release issued from Raj Bhavan said that the statement of Licypriya is not expected from a sensible citizen of the country.

Lakshman Acharya is the full fledged Governor of Assam and in addition he is looking after Manipur as additional charge only, it said and added "it appears Licypriya is not well aware of the procedure of the programme of the Governor" .

The statement further stated that the Governor was in Imphal upto July 31 and left for Delhi the next day.

After returning from Delhi, he visited Imphal on August 7 and left Imphal for Guwahati yesterday (September 11) .

Saying that the Governor met high ranking civil and military officials while he was in Imphal apart from convening a security meeting and meeting representatives of students' organisations, the Raj Bhavan maintained that the Governor left Imphal for Guwahati yesterday to attend an important official event there.

The Governor would be visiting Manipur very soon, it added.
