TKS reiterates stands on reversion of utilized teachers to their respective schools

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Ukhrul has reiterated its stand and demand regarding the reversion of all the teachers in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, who have been transferred to other schools.
Wungchipem Mahung, assistant education secretary of TKS maintained that the students body had earlier submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Th Radheshyam and had even served an ultimatum to do the needful at the earliest whilst the Minister was on his visit to Mapum village during February.
It asserted that neither the Education Department nor the authorities concerned has failed to give any positive response till date even after seven months.
Expressing serious concern and decrying the lackadaisical attitude and step motherly treatment of the Minister towards the students, TKS maintained that the prolonged negligence is a violation of the Right to Education of every children of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
The authorities concerned have not shown any interest to resolve the shortage of teachers in the two districts so far, it added.
According to a survey conducted by TKS, more than 300 Government schools in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts have the same problem of insufficient teachers as a result of frequent transfers or utilisation of the teachers at other schools.
Meanwhile, some schools have shortfall of teachers appointment against the sanction posts, the survey revealed.
TKS convened a consultation meeting inviting all the Tangkhul Zonal students leaders to discuss the present education system in the district and the adamant intention of the Education Minister Th Radheshyam on September 10 at TKS office.
The meeting expressed their utmost concern to revive the schools in the districts for its smooth and proper function.
However, they also expressed apprehension while questioning the State Government's campaign "School fagathansi" .
Majority of the schools in the two districts are functioning without adequate teachers and "School fagathansi" will be meaningless and will become a complete mockery if there are no sufficient teachers to teach for the whole academic session.
W Mahung also informed that the shortage of teachers in the schools have compelled rural children to shift more to private schools while adding that grassroots education in the two districts is a complete failure.
The consultative meeting resolved to appeal Education Minister to revert the utilized teachers without further delay.
It warned that TKS would resort to different modes of democratic agitation even to the extend of shutting down schools and Education offices within the jurisdiction of TKS to mark the protest against unavailability of teachers by frequent transferring of teachers.
