Imphal, December 11 2024:
The Rongmei Naga Luhphwam, Imphal-Luangrian (RNLP-IL), has extended its full support to the charter of demands raised by the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters.
In a release, the RNLP-IL called upon all its members to actively participate in the proposed sit-in protest to be held on December 13, 2024 near Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal (TBCI), organised by TYCM-GHQ .
The RNLP-IL alleged that the Government of Manipur continues to disregard the welfare and rights of tribal communities across various sectors, and the delay in addressing these issues constitutes a blatant violation of Constitutional provisions.
"It is profoundly troubling that essential tribal institutions, such as the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST), and the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), are in a state of disrepair.
As most of the staff are retired and only a handful of personnel, struggling to uphold operations, these departments/institutions are incapable of adequately addressing the needs of the tribal people", it added.
The RNLP-IL conveyed its firm support to TYCM-GHQ and urged the authorities concerned to resolve these critical issues without further delay.
