Imphal, October 11:
CRPF assistant commandant Romesh Kumar who commanded the CRPF unit posted at the Uripok traffic point on July 20 last which was involved in the firing on that day continued his testimony before the C Upendra commission of inquiry.
Others who appeared before the commission today included former minister Khashim Ruivah and Naseeruddin Shah, SDC, posted at the DC�s office, Imphal west.
Romeshkumar, in his testimony to the commission, the CRPF personnel posted at the Uripok traffic point on July 20 fired only seven rounds of ammunition in the air to disperse the mob with SLRs.
He said the rest of jawans were armed with pistols, carbines and AK-47 rifles.
He also said he informed his superiors orally of the firing.
Under cross examination, he also denied the charge that the killing of one Rajkumar and the injuring of another on that was result of CRPF firing.
Nasseeruddin Shah, SDC posted at the DC�s office, Imphal west, in his testimony said that there was no order or direction given to any security personnel on June 18.Under cross examination by the government�s counsel, he stated that he did not obtain any approval of the concerned authorities except the DC (Imphal west) before filing his affidavit.
While, being cross examined by the CRPF counsel, he admitted that he has put his signature on a blank paper brought by a police officer on June 21.
