Imphal, August 11 2021: Security measures in the State have been beefed up ahead of the 75th Independence Day celebration.

As a part of the larger measures, cordon and search operations were conducted in Imphal East and Thoubal districts by respective district police personnel.

A team of Imphal East district commando personnel, Porompat police under the command of M Roni, Additional SP Operation Imphal East, carried out house to house search operation at Brahmapur Bachaspati Leikai from Old Thumbuthong to New Thumbuthong area this morning.

During the operation, around 50 houses were searched and 100 individuals were verified.

No one was picked up during the operation, a police source said.

Under the supervision of Thoubal SP, Jogeshchandra Haobijam, a similar operation was conducted by a joint team of Thoubal district commando, Lilong police at Usoipokpi Tharaorok village area from 4.30 am to 6.45 am .

60 houses were searched and about 150 individuals including male and female were verified during the operation wherein awareness on the need of vaccination was also raised, said another source.

It is learnt that no one was picked up for further verification from the said area as well.
