In today's fast changing world where modern fashion trends dominate, staying rooted to one's unique culture and tradition reflects the immense love and zeal to preserve one's cultural heritage.
When it comes to safeguarding the rich cultural and traditional legacy of a particular community, adorning traditional costumes hold great significance in showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of that community.
Driven by the passion to showcase the richness of her traditional attire, Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla IAS says 'I love to wear traditional clothing while attending important public programmes to showcase its beauty and intricate motifs' .

Speaking to this correspondent of TSE, the DC said the intricate designs of the traditional costume is not only confined to the fabric but it becomes a symbol of one's identity as well.
Above all, donning traditional clothing enhances one's beauty and elegance, she remarked.
The Tangkhul IAS Officer also stressed on the need of promoting and preserving the traditional clothes.
Elaborating on the beautiful and colourful Tangkhul traditional clothes, which is highly priced for its typical embroidery designs, she said, 'The intricate motifs of Tangkhul such as the embroidery beads, handcrafted fabrics and elaborate stitching are highly valuable and showcases the importance of our cultural identity' .
She also mentioned the multiple designs on clothes of Tangkhul women like Chongkhom, Shaichang, Phila, Luingamla, Phangyai, Rose, Shirui Timrawon, Thangkang, Kongra etc.
It is worth mentioning that traditional dresses have cultural connotations and are worn at specific traditional festivals and gatherings like Kongra Kashan, Phangyai Kashan etc are worn at weddings or special occasions .
'Traditionally, the Tangkhul women's clothing has deep cultural roots and a long history of social significance and also highlights symbol of femininity', she said.
She went on to express that traditional outfit is a one of a kind creation signified by the customs and aesthetics of one's community.
Apart from her passion to promote the traditional clothing, the DC has immense love for nature and has been striving to beautify the Mini Secretariat Office complex in Hamleikhong, Ukhrul by decorating it with flower bearing plants.
Painted stones, framed flower beds filled with colourful flowers, beautiful murals on the walls and green herbs adorn the office complex creating a healthy and green ambience.
The beautiful complex is now attracting office goers and visitors.
