Imphal, April 11 2022:
The proscribed People's Revolutionary Front (RPF) has appealed to all the people of both the hills and the valley to spare some time and pay homage to all the revolutionaries who had laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement on the 'Martyrs Day' (April 13) and also to offer lamps in the evening at the residential gates of each and every household.
A statement issued by the outfit's Deputy Secretary, Publicity Roben Khuman also appealed to suspend all kinds of entertainment programmes and merry-making except religious activities on Wednesday.
On the occasion of the 'Martyrs Day', the outfit paid rich tributes to all the revolutionaries who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom and conveyed solidarity to all the women who had lost their sons and husbands to the atrocities allegedly committed by Indian military forces.
Every one shall recall the words of those brave Manipuri forefathers "A moment of freedom is far more significant than a life-time of bondage", it said.
The Manipuri forefathers lived true to their words as testified by the numerous wars fought against different adversaries to protect the sovereignty of Manipur throughout history, the outfit asserted.
However, following the alleged annexation of Manipur by India, a large section of Manipuri have become accustomed to a culture of begging from India.
With all its economic bases uprooted over the years, many people have been asking themselves if Manipur can survive without aid from India.
After they took over the political sovereignty of Manipur, New Delhi has been suppressing the people of Manipur in whatever they fancy for more than 70 years, it alleged.
RPF and its armed wing PLA firmly believe that the ongoing armed struggle will be victorious if all the people join the movement with a spirt of sacrifice and selflessness, it asserted.
"By then, we would be able to establish an independent Nation of self-rule and take Manipur on the path of rapid development and progress", it said.
Apart from keeping Manipur under their military rule, India has been superimposing its culture and traditions upon the people of Manipur so as to instil a sense of being Indians.
Moreover, the Government of India has been following a policy of balkanisation among the people of Manipur.
As such, it as all the more crucial to carry on the liberation movement in order to save Manipur from the covert policies of India, it said.
Pledging that RPF would continue to fight for the motherland and the masses until the last breath, the outfit categorically stated that it would never go for dialogue with the Government of India except on the issue of Manipur's sovereignty.
