Rs 80,000 worth liquor seized

Imphal, April 11 2017:
Intensifying drive against drugs in the city, Imphal East district police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMLF) and beer worth around Rs 80, 000 from two shops located at Checkon area today evening.
The drive was carried out by a team of the district police headed by OC AK Shantikumar under the supervision of SDPO Porompat police station, Mayengbam Roni.
The seized liquor was displayed before media persons at Porompat PS.

Speaking to media persons, M Roni informed that the drive was conducted as per the instruction of SP Imphal East, K Kabib.
He elaborated that the drive was carried out as per an information collected from their sources about sale of liquor at the area.
He added that Porompat police will continue such drive in other areas as well.
Owners of the shops from where the liquor was seized are identified as Sinam Sanajaoba (55) s/o (L) Angou of New Checkon and Guruaribam Gulapi Sharma (43) s/o Jayadeva of Brahmapur Nahabam near Mahabali temple.
The shop owners have been taken into custody and they will be handed over to Excise Department along with the seized liquor.
