Sustainable livelihood development of tribal women through pig farming held at Senapati

Imphal, October 10 2016: ICAR-National Research on Centre on Yak, Dirang, Arunchal Pradesh, in collaboration with Lapao Development Society organized 2 days training programme on "Sustainable livelihood development of tribal women through pig farming under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) of the Institute at Purul Village, Senapati Manipur from 6th and 7th October, 2016.Dr.S.S.Hanah, Scientist and Coordinator of the programme welcomed the dignitaries and tribal farmers to the 2 days training programme and introduced the participants about the objective of the programme.

He also highlighted about the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).

The Inaugural session was graced by Mr.L.D.Raini, Autonomous District Council, Executive member and in-charge of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Mr.Henry Paoti, Ex MLA, 47 Karong, Mr.Thomas Tyaisha, President of Purul Union, Mr.Ngaopunii, Secretary of Purul Union and its Executive Members.

During the inaugural session all the speakers expressed the importance of such type of programme to the poor tribal farmers and appreciated Dr..S.MDeb, Director of ICAR- National Research on Centre on Yak, Dirang for accepting the proposal submitted by Dr.S.S.Hanah, Scientist and Coordinator of the training programme.

The Coordinator deliberately discussed about the important of pig farming in tribal area for uplifting of poor tribal economic condition.

He also educated them about the scientific management of different group of pig including housing and feeding with locally available resources and its health care.

The poor tribal farmers were also given information regarding the technologies developed by the institute like complete feed block, application of artificial insemination, area specific mineral mixture, highland pasture management etc.
