According to sources, a relative of Abdullah had been hospitalised at RIMS Hospital after a road mishap.
On receiving instruction from the doctor to get an MRI scan of his injured relative, Abdullah made a request to N Samarendra, the X-ray technician, for the same.
At this juncture, N Samarendra allegedly responded to him with words that reeked of communal overtone and as such, a scuffle broke out between the two.
N Samarendra allegedly hurt Abdullah after hitting him in the face.
It was further reported that police arrived at the scene and picked up the X-ray technician and brought the situation under control.
In response to this alleged attack, representatives of 13 CSOs including MMWO, AMMOCOC, MCM, AMMSO, PSO, AMMYCO etc and members of the public protested at RIMS Hospital this morning around 11 .
The protesting CSOs demanded immediate termination of the staff involved in the matter and decried hospital staff treating patient party with communal words.
Speaking to media persons from the sideline of the protest, Md Jalal, president AMMOCOC said that the treatment meted out to Abdullah by RIMS staff was in complete violation of medical ethics.
The AMMOCOC president appealed to RIMS authority to refrain from using words tinged with communal colour and maintained that the Director of the hospital must personally assure that such 'communal' incidents will not repeat itself in the future.
However, if the officials concerned do not take up immediate action then the 13 protesting CSOs will shut down the entire hospital and launch a series of agitations, Md Jalal maintained.
On the other hand, a reliable source has informed that N Samarendra has been suspended by the Deputy Director of RIMS Hospital today.
