Imphal, April 09 2012:
The faculties of Centre for Human Rights and Duties Education of Manipur University have urged the MU authority to resolve the present controversy regarding constituting of the Curriculum Committee of the Six-Months Certificate Course on Human Rights.
A press statement jointly issued by the four faculty members of the Centre also urged the different student organisations not to create confusion and bring untoward incidents regarding the academic matter of a well established educational institute like MU.
The statement clarified that the present Co-ordinator is an in-charge.
Claiming that the incumbent Co-ordinator is competent for the post, the faculty members said that the MU authority appointed the senior-most faculty member of the Centre as the Co-ordinator in-charge for the smooth functioning of the Centre.
Under his Co-ordinatorship, the Centre has made great progress by completing a pending Six-Months Certificate Course and conducted several Human Rights awareness programmes at different places of Manipur following the guidelines of UGC, the press statement said.
It added that the pending examination for the Certificate Course is over the issue of the syllabus as the Curriculum Committee of the Six-Months Certificate Course could not materialise even though the proposed syllabus had already been sent for approval to the office of Dean, School of Social Science in September 2011 .
