Arms looted, recovered; UG cadres arrested

Imphal, February 09 2025:
As many as nine weapons were looted by armed miscreants from a police outpost located at Kakmayai, Thoubal district last night before eight of the looted weapons were recovered by police today.
Around 30 armed miscreants equipped with sophisticated weapons, breached Kakmayai police outpost and overpowered the police personnel deployed at the post on February 8 night.
The armed miscreants then looted six SLRs and three AK rifles from the outpost and escaped.
However, the security personnel fought and could detain one of the miscreants namely Hijam Ningthem Singh (49) of Moirangpurel Mamang Leikai, who was later identified as a member of KCP, said a press release issued by the Police Control Room.

After relentless search operations today, police recovered eight weapons�� three AK rifles and five SLRs from Ngamukhong foothill area.
Security forces conducted combing operations around Ningel, Malom, Toubul and Langathei and one hideout of KCP was busted in Langathel Chingkhong area.
Apart from busing the hideout, security forces recovered 48 live rounds of Insas and AK ammunition, 25 empty cases of assorted ammunition, 11 hand grenades, two arming rings, two tube launchers, one carbine SMG magazine, one INSAS magazine, one 9 mm pistol with one magazine along with 3 live rounds, one stun shell one Nikon binocular, seven shoulder badges of KCP(PWG), one name plate marked as 'LAM MEITEI', one Maruti Gypsy (white), five bullet-proof vests, four bullet-proof plates and three armour helmets.
Further, search operations carried out by security forces during the last 24 hours led to recovery of one AK 56 with one magazine, one SMC carbine with one magazine, three single barrel guns, six tear smoke shells, six hand grenades with two rings, three numbers of 12 bolt live cartridges, 10 numbers of 7.62 x 39 mm live ammunition, two numbers of 303 live ammunition, one IED (red in colour) weighing 1.650 kg, one IED (black in colour) weighing 1.950 kg with wire, one IED weighing 400 gm and one IED weighing 350 gm from an area between Sagang and Naodakhong foothill, Bishnupur district.
Police also busted one hideout of outlawed outfit NRFM at Tellou Makha Leikai under Lamlai police station and arrested seven cadres of the outfit who were allegedly involved in extortion activities, arms trade etc.
The arrested cadres have been identified as M Somokanta alias Pakpa (26), Th Iboton alias Thouyangba (34), H Rohit Meitei alias Mangangngamba (32), Y Inao Singh alias Chinglai (20), N Jotin Meitei alias Pherappa (33), N Premkumar alias Punsirol (32) and H John Singh alias Athoiba (33) .
One Al assault rifle with magazine and 15 live rounds, one AK 47 rifle with magazine and 13 live rounds, two INSAS rifles with magazine and 12 live rounds, two SLRs with magazines and 30 live rounds, five bullet proof jackets and three mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
On the other hand, police arrested one illegal arms smuggler identified as Kh Roshan (27) of Atoukhong Laiphrakpam, Thoubal from Porompat area on February 8 .
