CM inaugurates 33/11 power sub-station

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a 33/11 KV power sub-station at Mayang Langjing Tamang, Imphal West today.
The sub-station, which was set up at an estimated cost of around Rs 2.9 crore, will provide power supply to around 700 households of different localities in Mayang Langjing Tamang and Mana Ingkhol.
Power Minister Th Biswajit, MSPDCL Chairman L Susindro and Lamshang AC MLA S Rajen were also present at the function as dignitaries, among others.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, N Biren Singh said that people might be well aware about the positive changes seen in the past three years and explained that many noble schemes have been introduced while different infrastructure have been dedicated to the public during this short period.
These were possible because of the firm commitment of the Government and support from the public, he added.
Biren announced that a couple of similar sub-stations are ready for inauguration currently, and they will definitely benefit the public.

Mentioning about various developmental schemes, the Chief Minister said that sessions for six schools selected under Government's 'School Fagathansi Mission' will commence from February 12.Likewise, sessions for the remaining schools will also begin by the first week of March, he added.
Biren said that there would be no point of developing good infrastructure and nice buildings if there is no sincere people in the society.
As such, it is a must to groom children and the youth at the grassroots level to make them sincere and honest, he pointed out.
Earlier, there was unrest in Manipur and people were experiencing panic all the time.
However, the situation has dramatically changed ever since the new Government was sworn in, he claimed.
Stating that Manipuri people are hard working and there is no dearth of talent in them, the Chief Minister said that these talented people are being provided assistance through Manipur StartUp and other schemes.
He then added that there is no doubt that Manipur is now marching ahead towards progress and development, apart from opining that there is a need to focus on rural economy if the State has to boost its economy.
On the other hand, Power Minister Th Biswajit said that MSPDCL has set a target to instal prepaid metres for all the power connections of the State in a bid to curb power loss.
He said that as the State's power generating capacity is negligible, a huge chunk of the power being provided to the people is bought from different agencies.
As such, there is need to spread awareness to power consumers of the hill districts as well, so that 100 per cent installation of prepaid metres can be achieved, the Minister said.
Stating that the Government is planning to acquire around two lakh prepaid metres for this purpose, Biswajit said that price fixation has already been completed and the process for tender bidding will begin soon.
