Benefits for labourers via ESIC by Dec

In a bid to provide and furnish all the benefits that a labourer must receive from the authorities concerned, the Government of India is ready to set up Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in the State by the end of 2015 .
Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya landed today here in the State capital from Aizawl this morning and conducted a high level meeting at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat, Babupara where State Labour Minister I Hemochandra, Principal Secy of Labour Suhel Akhtar, high ranking officials from both the State and Centre and representatives of various trade unions took part.
After the meeting, Bandaru informed media persons that States like Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Union territory Andaman and Nicobar island are yet to open up regional branch office of ESIC.
Lack of such office has curtailed various benefit schemes for labourers provided by the Labour Ministry, he added.
The Ministry will bear all the construction cost of the office building, but the location must be furnished by the State Government.
The Prime Minister of India is set to introduce the social security scheme for the labourers where the U-Win smart card will be provided to working class section of the society so that they can avail the various schemes and projects like Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojna, Aam Admi Bima Yojna, Old Age Pension, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna etc.

However he maintained that successful implementation of the schemes lies in the hand of the State Government where registration of factory workers and other labourers is a must.
He added that the Ministry is all set to introduce the National minimum wages for labourers both in the organised and unorganized sector.
Meanwhile State Labour Minister I Hemochandra stated that the regional office of ESIC will be set up in the State for the labourers.
He urged the visiting Union Minister of State to provide more Central sponsored schemes for the labourers.
Representatives of various trade unions drew the attention of Bandaru to take a keen look at the conditions of labourers.
