Imphal, September 08 2011:
While flatly rejecting the claim of the PIB (DW) that Tongbram Mitlang alias Babuthoi of Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai was a UNLF/MPA cadre, the same outfit has clarified that its 2nd Lt Oinam Chairellakpa alias Guneshwar s/o O Shamungou never returned to his unit after he was sent home for treatment of injuries he sustained in a gun fight with security forces.
During this period, he was also imprisoned for sometime, said a press release issued by the outfit's Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
Mitlang and Guneshwar were among the UG cadres who surrendered before 57 Mountain Division GOC Maj Gen Binoy Poonen and ADGP V Zathang yesterday.
Alleging that security forces have been threatening many families of Thanga and Karang to persuade their sons and daughters who have joined MPA/UNLF to surrender, the outfit stated that it was not surprising to see Chairellakpa in the 'surrender drama' .
The outfit contended that it has no connection with Tongbram Mitlang alias Babuthoi in any manner at any point of time.
The outfit further rejected the claim of security forces that Sgt Maj Liankhosiam alias Samboi, Sgt Maj Propolin alias Papao, Sgt Maj N Gulkhochon alias Ngampao from Churachandpur and Private Soubam Somen alias Ningaidaba from Imphal East were its cadres.
The four individuals reportedly surrendered to security forces as UNLF cadres, as published in local dailies on September 2 .
However, the UNLF has rejected the claim saying that there was no relation whatsoever between the party and the
four individuals.
Such surrender dramas enacted by using a few retired cadres having little conviction can never deter the revolutionary cadres who have been struggling with full conviction for freedom, it asserted.
