Imphal, January 08 2014:
Demanding service regularisation of work charged and muster roll emplo-yees ahead of State Electricity Department becoming a corpo-ration, Manipur Electricity Employees' union said not honouring its demand will constrain the Union to launch various forms of agitation.
Speaking to newspersons at its Keishampat office today Union's working president Y Ranapratap Singh said it has no objection against the Dec 26, 2013 decision of the State cabinet to convert the Department to a corporation but ig- noring service insecurity of over 400 employees would be acceptable.
Stating that for the last 30 years 364 work charged, 38 muster roll and two contract employees are being utilised by the Department, he asserted that these personnel deserve service security above everything else.
Reiterating the demand for service regularisation of these employees before the department becomes a corporation in February this year as proposed by the Cabinet, the working president also regretted that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who also holds the Power portfolio, has been allegedly declining Union's proposal for a meeting to discuss the issue.
If the Government is planning to invalidate service of these employees who had been working for over 30 years then such a decision amounts to violation of human rights, said Ranapratap.
