Imphal, October 07 2020:
Ridiculing what it terms as the handiwork of mischief mongers of certain media groups, the NSCN (IM) today asserted that the report that the Naga accord has been finalised sans the NSCN (IM) is nothing but a concocted story.
In a statement issued to the media today, the NSCN (IM) said that it is understood that certain MHA and security officials are working in tandem with some media groups to pile the pressure on the NSCN (IM) and confuse the Naga people on the demand for a flag and Constitution.
Taking names, the NSCN (IM) said that correspondents of some newspapers, in cahoots with officials of the MHA and Defence Ministry are trying to divide and confuse the Naga people and drive them away from the demand for a flag and a Constitution.
The fact however is that there is a groundswell of support from amongst the Naga people as there is no meaning of bringing a Naga solution without a flag and a Constitution.
"What is there for the Naga people to gain out of a Naga deal if we are to lose our political identity that is identified by a flag and a Constitution," asked the NSCN (IM).
Taking the name of a particular correspondent, the NSCN (IM) said that this man has been writing that the Naga deal is going to be signed anytime soon, even without the NSCN.
Such highly motivated reports with sources from the Home Ministry and security are aimed at creating sensationalism, alleged the outfit.
NSCN (IM) made it clear that there is no way forward on the Indo-Naga talk without finalising the Naga flag and Constitution and added that talks on these two subjects are underway with the Government of India in all seriousness.
