Imphal, October 07 2015: Sainik School, Imphal celebrated its 44th Raising Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety today.

The celebrations began with a wreath laying ceremony at the martyrs' pillar by the officers, staff, ex-students and cadets of the school, said a press release issued by PIB (DW) .

A large number of ex-teachers, students, and staff of the school attended the function.

A variety of entertainment programmes and games were conducted for the staff and family members.

As part of the celebrations, a philately workshop cum exhibition was organised by the Department of Post under the guidance of Vinod Kumar, Director and L Tiken Singh, Assistant Superintendent Postal Services.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Group Captain (Dr) DD Mishra, Principal of the school, added the press release.

Leisangthem Ajit Singh, the guest of honour, in his address to the gathering complemented the school for excelling in every sphere of multifaceted training activities.

He said that the cadets need to be trained in culture and sports too along with academics so as to make them physically fit and mentally sound.
