Imphal, November 06 2024:
An Imphal based paper has caused confusion among the public by publishing "speculative" and "fictitious" reports hinting at "a possible change in the State Government before elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra", charged Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata today.
Speaking to this paper, the Speaker also asserted that the paper also "wrongfully" connected his visit to Delhi yesterday with the "speculation about the possible change in the Government" .
The Speaker said he and two other BJP MLAs went to Delhi on separate personal business.
"The visit to Delhi was not at all related to politics.
The report published by the paper is purely speculative and we want to know the source of the reports," Satyabrata said.
The two MLAs the paper has mentioned are Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwor and Mayang Imphal AC MLA Kongkham Robindro, said the Speaker.
Commenting on the report, MLA L Rameshwor said he went to Delhi on a personal business and the Speaker was taking his daughter to Delhi for her studies.
"It was a coincidence that we shared the same flight to Delhi," Rameshwor said.
Kongkham Robindro also stated the same and informed that the Speaker was along with his wife and daughter who studies in a school in Delhi.
Earlier there was a plan to attend a congregation of Assembly Speakers and Secretaries of Indian States in Sydney from November 1 to November 15, but due to separate unavoidable personal reasons, "we decided not to attend the tour," Robindro said.
Robindro said as he was earlier planning on attending the tour, he had made prior arrangements and kept his things in Delhi.
He is in Delhi to collect his belongings and on a personal business not related to politics, Robindro said.
