Scribes stage sit-in-protest

Imphal, August 06 2015: Scribes of the State under the banner of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union staged a sit-in-protest at Manipur Press Club against different forms of obstruction and intimidation given to media persons by some supporters yesterday.

Media persons have been facing different types of inconvenience during the pro-ILPS agitation while collecting news and moving from one place to another.

In many instances, media persons could not proceed further due to total road blockade while in some cases bandh supporters asked them to take the longer route or go to other road.

At night when media persons returned home, they were attacked by pelting stones at some areas.

JCILPS representatives came at Manipur Press Club during the sit-in-protest and discussed the matter with the media persons.

Later, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union and Editors' Guild Manipur decided to suspend publication of news on August 6 and stop broadcsating Prime Time news on August 5 .
