Ruanglat subject toppers feted

Top mark scorers in Ruanglat subject in the HSLC 2013 examination were awarded cash prizes and certificates at a felicitation programme organised by Ruangmei Literature Society at Manipur Press club today.
Ruanglat is the language paper of the Rongmei community.
The students felicitated at the occasion included DP Lungngampou of Gracy Christian High School (Loktak Project, who scored 90 put 100 and passed the examination in first division; Bezalei Kamei of St John High School (Luangba), 89 out of 100 and passed in first division; and Bezalei's classmates - Gaikhaolung Kamei, Languingam Gonmei and Lungzuangai Kamei - all three scoring 87 marks each.
While the subject topper and second best were presented Rs 10,000 and Rs 7000 respectively by the event's chief guest Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, the latter three were awarded Rs 5000 each.

Noting high marks scored in the indigenous paper, Gaikhangam exuded confidence the Ruanglat subject would make rapid strides in the popularity chart among the Rongmei community.
Calling upon the Rongmei scholars to contribute towards further enrichment of the indigenous language, he exalted that Ruanglat subject becoming an examination paper from its past existence as an unknown entity merits celebration.
Highlighting need for high percentage scoring in examinations to pursue higher studies, the DyCM also said that with Manipuri Language included in the 8th Schedule there is always enough room for other indigenous languages to develop.
While Tamenglong AC MLA Janghemlung Panmei was the functional president the event was graced as the guests of honour by Principal Secretary (Power) LP Gonmei, DC (Tamenglong) Norbert Disinang, Additional Secretary (Hrt & Sc) R Hucham Gonmei and Tamenglong ADC Chairman G Soihem Haomei.
