Woman escapes from murderous husband

Imphal, June 06 2011: A 22 year old mother of two children succeeded in escaping from her own husband who not only punched her left eye but also attempted to strangulate her to death.

The brutalised woman has been identified as one Sajina.

She originally belongs to Khellakhong, Thoubal district but is married to Md Iboyai of Sandangkhong Makha.

It is reported that Iboyai is presently a Panchayat Member.

As Sajina was writhing in pain on the bed after she was punched on the left eye by her husband at about 11.30 am today, Iboyai went for her throat and thrashed her mercilessly.

Later Sajina was brought to RIMS by her parental family members.

Talking to this reporter at RIMS, Sajina said that Iboyai repeatedly threatened her to leave his house and go back to her parental home.

"For not buckling under his threat, he thrashed me on many occasions", Sajina said.

Unable to bear the atrocities of her husband, Sajina went back to her parental home three times earlier.

But on account of her two children, Sajina's brothers took her to Iboyai's home on all these instances.

Sajina further disclosed that Iboyai has illicit affairs with other women.

Iboyai started harassing and beating Sajina since he began having illicit affairs with other women.

"Then he started threatening me to leave his house", Sajina said.

It is reported that a complaint has been lodged against Md Iboyai at Mayang Imphal police station for attempting to murder his wife.

Sajina's elder brother Abdul Salam, while decrying the brutal assault and murder attempt on her sister, sought immediate attention of the authority to punish Iboyai according to law.
