Imphal, October 05 2020:
The State Government has been working at its best level to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and there would be no shortage of fund to fight the pandemic, according to MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan, who is also Advisor (Health) to Chief Minister N Biren.
In line with the suggestions and guidelines issued by ICMR, MHA and MoHFW, the State Government has been working hard to contain the virus together with doctors, nurses, paramedics, other health care workers, police, Government Departments, CSOs and the general public, Dr Ranjan said while addressing the media today.
The positivity rate of Manipur is around 4.69 per cent and it is much lower than the National average.
The fatality rate is 0.62 per cent and the testing capacity has been raised to around 90,156 per 10 lakh people.
As prescribed by the revised SOP, there are around 600 people under home isolation, he said.
"This does not mean we can afford complacency.
There is a need to further reduce the fatality rate", asserted the Advisor to CM.
So far, the Government has spent around Rs 10 crore in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and it is a big burden to the State exchequer.
Yet, there would be no shortage of fund for fighting the pandemic, he claimed.
The Government has been making all preparations to face any eventuality arising out of the pandemic, Dr Ranjan said.
Saying that the most crucial part in fighting the pandemic is prevention, he appealed to one and all to wear face mask, wash hands regularly, keep social distance and abide by the SOP issued by the Government from time to time.
He said that an extensive awareness campaign on COVID-19 would be launched soon.
Health Services Director Dr K Rajo who was also present at the press meet maintained that there is no community transmission as yet in the State although local transmission has seen a surge.
To a query, Dr Rajo said that all procedures have been completed to release funds for COVID care centres of Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.
Release of funds was delayed a little as certain official processes must be completed, he added.
To another query, Health and Family Welfare Principal Secretary V Vumlunmang claimed that air travellers are subjected to COVID-19 test in the most stringent manner at the Changangei RAT centre as compared to other States.
In most other States, air passengers are allowed to leave airports after only thermal scanning.
But at Imphal airport, all incoming air passengers are subjected to RAT, Vumlunmang said.
