During a brief chat with media persons before she left Tulihal Airport, Sharmila said that "Our country which claims to be one of the strongest countries in the world does not care about democratic values and human rights of its citizens.
Yet, the Government of India has been lobbying hard for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council" .
She said that she has been carrying on a democratic form of agitation demanding repeal of the draconian Act (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) for more than 10 years but the Central Government has not been listening to the non violent and democratic form of agitation.
Sharmila will return to Imphal on October 8 .
It may be mentioned that it will be her second appearance before the Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala Court, New Delhi after she appeared before the same Court on June 5 and 6 this year.
Notably, Sharmila started her fast unto death agitation demanding repeal of AFSPA from the State from November 2010 after 10 innocent civilians were killed by troops of Assam Rifles posted at Malom near Tulihal International Airport.
