6th Economic Census training

A two-day training programme for the 6th Economic Census got underway at Panchayat Bhawan, Porompat today.
The training programme is being organised by District Statistical Office, Imphal East to prepare census operators from the three sub-divisions of the district namely Porompat, Sawombung and Keirao Bitra.
Addressing the trainees, SDO, Porompat Somorjit Salam said today's training is the third census related event as surveys on General census and Socio-Economic were already been conducted in the district.
While the socio-economic survey was conducted by the district administration under the aegis of Department of Rural Development the economic survey focused of economic establishments, he said.
Urging the trainees to concentrate on the task at hand, Somorjit recounted that New Delhi had rejected a previous census report after many defects were detected in recording particulars of individual citizens.
the economic census will work out number of commercial outlets including the tiniest shops like pan dukans with the report supposed to be sent to the Ministry of Planning, Govt of India.
The training programme is being participated by 250 anganwadi workers and supervisors.
