Imphal, December 03 2024:
The Kshetrigao Meitei Pangal United Club (KMPUC) has condemned the arrest of four Arambai Tenggol (AT) members who allegedly came to seize drugs at Khergao area on December 1 .
KMPUC is an apex body of 17 associations/clubs/organisations of Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency.
Speaking to the media at Ava ground today, spokesperson of KMPUC SA Malik said that a meeting was convened today over the handing over of the four AT members to police after they were detained at an area covered by YAVA and YOVA clubs at Khergao.
Saying that they condemn the handing over of the AT members without consulting KMPUC in the strongest terms, he added that KMPUC will always co-operate with all drives against anti-social elements.
Further stating that KMPUC was formed to make Kshetrigao a drug free area, SA Malik continued that they are ready to lend a hand in checking drug trade at Kshetrigao areas if they are consulted first.
He appealed to all concerned to at least consult them first before taking out any drive against drugs at Kshetrigao.
It would have been better had the AT members informed them of their drive against drugs at Khergao on December 1, SA Malik continued and added that the four AT members may not have been arrested had the drive been taken out along with them.
There was misunderstanding because the AT members were armed, he said and advised the YADA and YOVA to not take any independent decision over the issue without consulting them first in future.
Let's find out together what exactly happened that day and take disciplinary actions against those who did wrong, he appealed.
