Imphal, February 03 2020: Guinness world record holder, Thounaojam Niranjoy today, broke the previous record for the maximum number of one arm knuckle push-ups in a minute, alternating arms for male.

Th Niranjoy, successfully completed 67 push-ups in a minute in front of a panel of four judges at the indoor hall of Regional College, Lilong Chajing, Imphal West, thus breaking the previous record of 53 push-ups which was made by American Luis Vargas on August 8, 2017 at Las Vegas.

Thounaojam Niranjoy breaks 'world record'

It may be mentioned that Niranjoy already holds a Guinness world record for the maximum number of one-arm, one-leg push ups in a minute.

He completed 36 push-ups during the attempt on August 14 last year and the confirmation report was sent by Guinness world records on August 21.Speaking to media persons after breaking the world record today, Niranjoy said that most of the world records are held by US Nationals and added that he began aiming for the records believing that the people of Manipur can also accomplish what others can.

He then credited his success to the supportive friends and colleagues of Regional College, Regional College Alumni Association, Ideal Youth Club Narankonjin and his teacher Yambem Gobin Singh as well as his parents and relatives.

On the other hand, Yambem Gobin, who is also a member of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisation, Manipur, said that the photos, videos and necessary documents will be sent to Guinness World Records for confirmation.

The event, organised by Regional College, Regional College Alumni Association and Ideal Youth Club, was attended by Regional College secretary Dr Kh Nabachandra, Principal S Tilakchand and Ideal Youth Club president Th Sunilkumar as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Th Niranjoy (22), is the youngest son of Thounaojam Rajen and Thounaojam (o) Ibemnungshi Devi of Narankonjil Mamang Leikai.

He is currently is a BA 6th semester student at Regional College.
