Despite the government's warning that withdrawal of salaries might not be possible till January after November 7 next, most employees have not withdrawn their salaries so far owing to the ongoing cease work strike called by the Joint Administrative Council (AMGEO and AMTUC).
However, it is reliably learnt that salary bills for about 1500 persons belonging to various departments have been cleared by the Imphal west treasury office today.
They include employees of the Governor's secretariat, the Assembly secretariat and the MPSC.
Salary bills for employees of the High Court secretariat is reported to be under process.
Salary bills for the 11 IRB, 7th MR, and Imphal east police have reportedly been submitted to the treasury office, Imphal east, while salary bills for the 1st MR, 2nd MR and Imphal west police have been submitted to the treasury office, Imphal west.
These have either been completed, or are under process.
However, it is learnt that most other departments are yet to submit the salary bills, as their employees are on strike, and employees of most treasury offices in various districts did not engage in any bill processing work today.
In the meantime, it is reported that a combined team of the 8th MR and the Chandel district police has picked up a senior accountant and a dealing accountant of the Chandel treasury office from their office this morning.
The security team reportedly tried to pick up the treasury officer, Chandel, but he happened to be on leave.
