COVID-19: Philanthropic works continue across the State

Edible and personal hygiene items were distributed in parts Manipur, today.
DIPR
In a simple function held at Manipur Press Club today, L Ashokkumar, Dy Director (DIPR) handed over 20 hand sanitizers and 300 face masks to Bijoy Kakchingtabam, president, AMWJU.
The items were meant for distribution to the media fraternity in Manipur.
It may be mentioned that the items distributed to the president of AMWJU were provided by Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS from the district's Food Bank.
AMWJU president thanked the sincere efforts of Dy Director of DIPR, Manipur and the generous contributions of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East District in containing COVID 19 by providing face mask and hand sanitizer for the media personnel.
Wangkhem AC
Dalit president of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Manipur, Kangabam Jadumani handed out edible items and face masks for 6 households in Yairipok Kekru under Wangkhem AC to the local volunteers.
Altogether 11 persons of the six families were tested positive for COVID-19 .
Jadumani also distributed face masks, hand sanitizers and refreshments to police deployed in the area, which has been declared as containment zones.
Wangkhei AC
With assistance from former MLA of Wangkhei AC, Okram Henry, food items were distributed for people residing in localities of the Constituency which were declared as containment zones.
Wife of the former MLA and volunteers of the Wangkhei Kendra COVID-19 Management Committee reached out to people of New Checkon Mandav Leirak, New Checkon Mantripukhri Devilane and Mercyland with edibles such as rice, dal, packaged salt, potatoes etc.
Agenda Kakching
To promote regular handwashing in Kakching, a WhatsApp group Agenda Kakching started distributing buckets, mugs and soaps, today.
The group is targeting to distribute at least one bucket, a mug and a bar of soap to every household in Kakching for keeping at their respective gates.
The distribution programme was initiated by Kakching Municipal Council Chairperson, Naorem Sanjitkumar, who is a member of Agenda Kakching.
KMC Vice-Chairperson, Kshetrimayum Jhalajit; admins of Agenda Kakching, Naorem Romesh, Nongmaithem Amarjohnson, Moirangthem Johnson and volunteers of the Sun Rise Development Club Kakching Irum Mapal also took part in the distribution programme.
Moirang
An active member of BJP from Kumbi Salangkonjil Part 2, Sanasam Premchandra Meitei distributed cash and edible items to locals of Wathalambi and families of inmates lodged at a local quarantine centre opened at Phougkachao Ikhai under Kumbi Kendra, today.
The aid was extended to altogether 130 families of Wathalambi under Saiton Gram Panchayat and family members of 9 inmates lodged at a quarantine centre at Phougkachao Ikhai under Torbung Gram Panchayat.
Premchandra also assisted Rs 2,000 for the construction of eight shop plots of Lainingthou Sandhong Khongbu Manga.
Police
Head Constable of Manipur police, Khangem-bam Bobisana Singh supplied face masks and hand saniti- sers to street vendors operating at Ngariyan along Imphal Yairipok road.
About 90 face masks and 40 hand sanitisers were distributed by the police personnel, today.
Uripok
RK Ranisana, former Chairperson of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) and State executive member of BJP, continued her philanthropic work by handing out relief materials to the households within containment zones under Uripok Assembly Constituency yesterday.
The former IMC chairperson distributed edibles items to households within the containment zones in Uripok Tourangbam Leikai and Uripok Mayai Leikai.
Expressing concern on the sideline of the charitable programme, RK Ranisana said that COVID-19 has ravaged across the State and the same heat is felt in Uripok AC.
With the Unlock 4.0 in place, the State will also be seeing relaxation on many things, she said while urging all to be very careful and ensure the SOP and safety guidelines issued by the Government are followed.
It may be noted that the former chairperson had recently conducted a similar drive to help people in containment areas announced at Uripok Polem Leikai and Sinam Leikai.
