Imphal, June 02 2017:
With the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015, the Government of India has recognised the sovereign rights of the Nagas, claimed the NSCN (IM) today.
In a statement issued to the press today, the outfit said that the two sides have now agreed to co-exist with shared sovereignty.
The 16 Point agreement of July 1960 and the Shillong Accord of 1975 were sell outs to the Government of India, claimed NSCN (IM) and added that under the leadership of the late Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah, the GoI and the Nagas have now finally agreed to co-exist with shared sovereignty.
This means that the GoI has accepted the Nagas as a different entity having equal status, meaning that India is not above or below the Nagas and Nagas are not above or below India.
The two entities will live as two different friendly Nations with absoloute rights over their own lands and its resources both beneath and above the earth's surface, added the outfit.
Recalling the journey that led to the signing of the Framework Agreement, the outfit said that sovereignty has finally dawned upon the Nagas and added that the credit for this should go to the the Naga mass based organisations, civil societies, tribal organisations, Churches and the individuals who had relentlessly and fearlessly worked for the the cause of the Nagas for decades.
