Tamenglong shut down over killing of 'K' Tatar

Schools, shops and other establishments in Tamenglong district headquarters remained shut down in protest over the killing of Tatar of NSCK (K) David Panmei in an ambush laid by armed cadres of rival NSCN-IM near the Stone Quarry at Old Tamenglong on Monday evening.
Local reports said that David Panmei ambushed by some armed cadres of NSCN-IM while coming from his native Thiulon village after Easter celebration in a Maruti Gypsy.
Seven bullet wounds were found on his head, armpits, chest and belly.
His body was handed over to his family members after post mortem at JNIMS hospital.
Locals of Happy Villa under Tamenglong Ward No 4, where the slain NSCK (K) leader was staying, cremated his body today evening.
Meanwhile, Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) has condemned 'cold blooded' killing of NSCN-K leader, David Panmei.
In a statement, D Stephen Zeme, Chairman of ZSUM said that killing of the NSCN-K cadre in presence of his wife, two daughters and a church leader is a heinous crime.
David was a young liberal leader, who took pain to bring peace in the Zeliangrong region.
His death is an irreparable loss to Zeliangrong community.
ZSUM also appealed to all the different UG groups operating in Tamenglong district to stop factional killings and think for the common people.
